Proctology

Proctological complaints are common, yet many people postpone seeking medical assessment for a long time. At the SanBer Medical proctology clinic, we place particular emphasis on discreet, gentle and patient-centred care, ensuring that our patients can undergo examinations in a safe and calm environment.

Our clinic specialises in conditions affecting the rectum and anal region, including the assessment and treatment of haemorrhoids, anal fissures and anal fistulas.

When should you consult a proctologist?

A proctological examination may be recommended for:

  • pain or discomfort in the anal region,
  • rectal bleeding,
  • itching or a burning sensation,
  • symptoms associated with haemorrhoids,
  • a suspected anal fissure,
  • discharge or recurring inflammation,
  • a suspected anal fistula,
  • a lump or swelling around the anus,
  • persistent or recurring symptoms associated with bowel movements.

Proctological examination

During the specialist consultation, we discuss the patient’s symptoms in detail. The condition is then assessed through a physical examination and, where necessary, anoscopy, proctoscopy or rectoscopy.

The purpose of the examination is not only to treat the symptoms but also to identify their exact cause and select the most appropriate treatment option for the patient.

Proctological examination under anaesthesia

We understand that the thought of a proctological examination may cause anxiety or discomfort for many patients.

For this reason, SanBer Medical also offers the option of having the proctological examination performed under anaesthesia at the patient’s request.

This may be a particularly comfortable solution for patients who feel very anxious about the examination, experience increased sensitivity or wish to undergo the assessment under the gentlest possible conditions.

Treatment options and outpatient procedures

In addition to conservative treatments, our clinic can perform certain minor outpatient proctological procedures where appropriate.

The most suitable treatment is determined in each case based on the examination results, the severity of the symptoms and the patient’s individual condition.

If a major surgical procedure is required, our specialist assesses the indication for surgery, explains the available options and helps determine the appropriate direction for further care.

Discretion and patient-centred care

Proctological conditions are a sensitive matter. Therefore, our clinic pays particular attention to discretion, gentle examination techniques and clear communication.

It is important to us that our patients feel comfortable discussing their questions and symptoms and fully understand the examination process and the available treatment options.

SanBer Medical aims to make the proctological assessment a safe, calm and as comfortable an experience as possible.

Do not postpone seeking medical advice—most proctological conditions can be treated effectively once an accurate diagnosis has been established.
